All about the BBC drama: Mystic

I have just finished watching the new series of the BBC children’s drama, Mystic, and it was epic! Based on Pony Club Secrets pony novels written by Stacy Gregg, this programme can be viewed on BBC iPlayer.

This children’s drama was filmed in Auckland, New Zealand. Although rated as a children’s TV show, I recommend for horsey adults too. It features main characters played by actors and actresses such as: Macey Chipping, Laura Patch, Max Crean, Kirk Torrance, Phil Brown, Jacqueline Joe, Antonia Robinson, Joshua Tan and many more.

The show is about Issie Brown who has just moved to New Zealand with her mother after losing her father back home in London. She struggles to fit in as she also misses her pals. She has an encounter with a wild pony and enigmatic stallion which introduces her to a group of horse-mad teenagers.

The TV drama is spread over three series which include the visions Issie sees. Detailed and accurately portrayed it has a high rating and has also been advertised by This Esme in her YouTube channel.

On the 10th July 2020, This Esme uploaded a video titled “Actor VS YouTuber” where main actress Macey Chipping visited her own yard in the South of England. They had fun and laughs, and Macey even rode Esme’s Connemara Pony, Casper. Recently, the pair met up again and filmed at Hickstead Horse Show. Macey learnt a lot about that side of the equestrian community – as represented that time – and both videos really advertised the drama before it even launched.

The program has many reviews from people who have finished viewing all of it and some that are currently enjoying. I personally would rate it 9.5/10 as I was hooked!
