Arabians. The oldest breed of horse.

Arabians

Arabian horses are very unique. Here’s why:

The Arabian breed is over 5,000 years old. It is known as the oldest horse breed and was the first domesticated breed of horse. They originate from Arabian Peninsula.

Arabians usually have dense, strong bone, and good hoof walls with a distinctive head shape and a high tail carriage. They are easily recognisable and especially noted for their endurance and therefore have super stamina.

In the past these horses were used for transportation, hauling loads and war mounts. Apparently, some keepers brought them into their families’ tents at night for warmth and protection. Today, as well as commonly seen in endurance competitions, they are in rehabilitation therapy programs, jumping, driving, and dressage and are used for trail rides and are police steeds.

Most of the time, Arabians have a good work ethic and are very intelligent. They are a piece of beauty and are safe, kind, and caring. This horse breed is willing to please, are playful and friendly, and have a quick ability to learn.

Arabs have an average height of 14.1 – 15.1hh and typically live between 25-30 years but it has been documented that there are instances where they have lived well into their 40’s. The Arabian Horse Association registers purebreds with coat colours, bay, grey, chestnut, black and roan.
