The Queen and her Horses

On the sad passing of Her Majesty the queen and the coronation of King Charles III, I wanted to honour her by discovering her passion and favourite horses.

But before we continue, please like, and share as this took me hours of research to be able to put together but it was worth it for the queen.

When did it start? According to the internet, Elizabeth first rode a pony at the age of 3 and fell in love. She then received a Shetland pony at the age of 4 years old and was riding it properly at the age of 6. Ever since then, she rode for pleasure.

The queen has had many successes with her thoroughbreds in the racing industry. She won every Classic except the Derby at Epsom and cheered 24 Royal Ascot winners. All of her jockeys wore the famous red and purple royal silks. When asked by Horse and Hound in 2020 which

were her favourite horses, she named Phantom Gold Doutelle who was bred by her majesty herself in her own right, Aureole who was close to a victory in the Derby in 1953 just a year after her coronation, Carrozza, Pall Mall, Dunfermline, Height of Fashion, Phantom Gold, Carlton House, Estimate, Dartmouth, and Highclere who when retired became successful in the breeding shed.

As many know, Queen Elizabeth II inspected the trooping on a regular basis and was an expert. She even rode in it in a few times. It is by far my favourite thing to watch about royal parades.

And even up until she was told six months before her passing that she had to give up riding she was pictured riding. Here are some of my favourites from her lifetime:

Not only was she a dedicated equestrian but a loyal Queen who served for a little over 70 years. May she rest in peace and be remembered for decades
